My November 2013 Income Report

December 10, 2013 in Income Reports

Welcome to my November 2013 income report! The year is wrapping up and I have to make a big push to complete what I set out to do this year. If you’ve never read one of my income reports before, this is where I total up how much I earn each month through my various online projects. I post my income reports here to keep track of my progress so I can look back and see how I’m doing on the goals I’ve set for myself this year.

A Semi-Productive Month

In App Purchase Testing ScreenshotIn November, I only worked on my iPhone app. But I really didn’t do much on it until the last week of November. There’s a reason for that… not a good one but there was a reason. If you have been following my blog, you would’ve known that I ran into a 2 month delay getting registered into the Apple Developer Program. I finally got that resolved at the end of October. Nevertheless, that delay took almost all of my enthusiasm out of working on my app. Realizing I could not afford to procrastinate any longer, I told myself I need to start working and finish my app. My deadline for publishing my first app was end of November 2013 but I’ll be happy to have it done before the Christmas rush.

Today, I am almost done with my app and testing it on my iPhone. My “In App Purchases” and ads are working but I’m noticing a few minor bugs so I need to fix those and it should be ready to submit to the App Store.

My Next Book Didn’t Get Written!

Back in September, I hired an author on Elance to write a new book for me. I picked this particular writer because she seemed the most qualified to write on the subject I wanted. I gave her 6 weeks to write the book. Usually the timeframe is 2 weeks. But I wanted to have her write the book because of her experience. I knew she was busy on other projects so I gave her the time she needed. However, the weekend before the book was due to be finished, she said she hadn’t started on it and had to cancel the job for health reasons!

If I knew this was going to happen, I would’ve hired one of the other writers who applied to my job posting. So here I am thinking I was going to be publishing another book and now I have nothing to sell. However, the cover was done several weeks ago thanks to the Photoshop templates in my Kindle Cover Course. So now, I just need to re-post the job. I have a few big things going on in December so not sure when I’m going to start this. Hopefully before the holidays.

I Might Give Up On Blogging

I don’t know what it is about me and websites? I just can’t seem to make progress with any website I create. This website, FreelanceDoodle.com was starting to grow in traffic but then about November 3rd, my visitor count dropped significantly. Almost 75% of my traffic disappeared. I haven’t done any backlinking to this site. I know that several posts were bringing in a bunch of traffic but now it’s all just a trickle. Google is doing a number on my websites!

For the amount of time I put into building websites, I’m not getting a whole lot out of it. This is a time where I have to make a decision to just focus on the things I know are working for me. I’ve never been very successful with niche sites so it might be time to take a break from it. Of course, I will keep this blog up because it’s a journal of all my business activities. I’ll try to post when I can but I think I really need to focus on the projects that generate income. Here’s my November Income Report:

One Month Left in 2013!

My income has come back up a bit but I still have a ways to go if I’m to complete my goal of $1000/month by the end of the year. From here on out, my focus will be to finish the app I’m working on and possibly get one more app into the App Store before Christmas. December is going to be busy with a bunch of other stuff going on but if I keep working at my projects a little at a time, I know I’ll make progress.

My Latest Udemy Course

I’m currently finishing my first iOS app. But even before I bought a Mac for app development,  I took the first step by creating app icon templates to use with my apps early on in this process. To help other developers or graphic designers, I created a course called How to Create Top Ranking Mobile App Icons that includes video tutorials and the exact icon templates I will be using for my apps.

Just copy and paste the coupon here and the discount will be applied immediately. You don’t have to be an app developer to take the course. If you’re a graphic designer, you can use the templates and video training to start an icon design business!
