Welcome to my online income report for July 2015. Another late report but it needs to be done. Not much to report again. For some reason I’m really slacking off these days. It feels like I’m doing things towards my business but I’m not really making any progress. I’m continuing to make YouTube videos here and there. No real schedule for posting videos but whenever I learn something new or buy something, I make a video review or tutorial on it.
A lot of times I start doing things because some internet marketer is promoting a new product or new way of making income online but my YouTube channel is something I’m doing just because I love doing it. I’m not following anyone else’s advice on YouTube because I know I have way more experience producing professional video than any of those guys. My videos are mostly tech related but here’s one I did just because I had to repair my dishwasher.
I make videos like that partly for my own reference in case I ever need to do that kind of repair again. I also hope my videos can help others who have the same problem. It’s always good to get comments from people saying that my videos helped them with an issue.
To save time on my reports, I’m going to start posting just the summary that has been at the end of my reports. Maybe shortening what I need to input will help me be more timely with these reports. Here we go!
Welcome to my online income report for June 2015. This is probably the latest I’ve ever finished an income report. Partly because it’s not as interesting to look at these days since my numbers have been down for quite a few months. At the same time, if I don’t do my reports, I don’t know how much I’m making. June was another month of entirely passive income. I didn’t do anything really except make more YouTube videos. It seems like the thing I like doing the best even though I’m not really growing my income that much through that source. But it seems like that’s where I’m headed since that where I have the most enthusiasm right now.
I do have a goal of reaching 1000 YouTube subscribers by the end of the year. I’m at about 540 right now. That’s about all the news I have going on now. Enjoy the report!
Welcome to my online income report for May 2015. I actually had my numbers added up but haven’t gotten around to posting them until now. Not much progress has been happening lately. For some reason I’ve become inactive in building new online assets… except for a new YouTube video here and there.
Speaking of YouTube, I’ve been recording home project repairs and some product reviews whenever I get my hands on gadgets. Since video production is what I do in my full-time job, making YouTube videos is very easy for me. If I have a repair coming up, I’ll do a bit of research and watch similar videos before I start. One of the things that I think help distinguish my videos from others is the use of a lot of close-ups. I use the macro function on my lens on just about every video.
I think it’s annoying to watch a video of someone doing something with their hands and they keep the shot wide where you can’t see the detail. I also try to shoot lots of angles and b-roll. It’s all part of my 22 years experience in broadcast television. Now back to the income report. Again, May was another month where I practically did nothing to earn what I’m about to report. Enjoy the report!
Welcome to my online income report for April 2015. Again this is a very late report as we are already heading into the Memorial Day weekend. Lately, I haven’t really done anything to advance my business except for shoot a few videos for YouTube. These videos are mainly product review and how-to videos.
Usually when I buy a product, I’ll try to shoot a video unboxing it and then eventually do a review on it. I’ve been trying to set a goal of about 3 videos per product. They consist of:
1. Unboxing Video
2. Product Review
3. Product Feature or In-Depth Feature Video
Shooting and editing videos are fun and easy for me to do since I’m a professional video producer in my regular job. I hope to do more in this area and grow my YouTube income. One of the things I want to try out are toy unboxing videos. There are numerous YouTube channels with people opening toys in front of the camera and making millions of dollars doing it. I’m sure I won’t get to a million but at least I can get a piece of the action. Right now my main channel is about tech gadgets and handyman repairs.
Everything earned in April was totally passive since I didn’t really work on anything. There is a lot of red in this report as everything is down this month. I also have a little bit of analysis paralysis going on. Can’t figure out what to work on next! But I do know that a new YouTube channel will be in the works as well as a new Udemy video course. Enjoy the report!
Welcome to my online income report for March 2015. It definitely seems like I’m busy but my income seems to be growing much slower than I expected. At this point, I’m trying to decide on which activities I want to continue to pursue because I feel like I’m spread out too thin on too many things. One of the things I’m struggling with is whether to continue reskinning apps. My apps bring in passive income each month but the amount of work I have to put in is disproportionate to the income they generate.
The other thing about iPhone apps is that I can’t fix things myself if there are problems. I don’t know how to program and it’s always really frustrating when I run into issues. I currently have another app in the works but I don’t know how many more I will produce. Speaking of apps, I just released a new app in March called Tattoo Boss. This app is based on the same source code as my last 3-4 apps. You can download Tattoo Boss here. Also take a look at the promo video I made:
I’m also working on some more Kindle books and hope to have another book out soon. That’s about all for now. Take a look at what my online assets were able to generate in March I had a nice little increase thanks to a good month for book sales!
Welcome to my online income report for February 2015. This is just a quick update to let you know I’m doing as I try to grow my business. I seem to be holding steady at my current income level. It’s a little discouraging to not see any upward movement even though I’m busy working on building up my income. However, at this point, my focus will be to produce more books and apps as I progress into the year.
Welcome to my online income report for December 2014. I know this report is extremely late! This will be quick and to the point. I don’t have much to report except that I’ve been working on new books and starting to build a new iPhone app. My priorities are definitely on working on projects that could potentially grow my income… Unfortunately, posting to my blog doesn’t generate any income so it always gets put off to the side. I’ll just give you the bare details this time.
Now here’s the super late income report for December.
Welcome to my online income report for November 2014. Again, this report is extremely late! Today is the last day of 2014 and I’m just posting this one. I hate to say but maintaining this site has become one of the last things on my priority list. There are way too many things that take up my time and those are the activities that can potentially make money.
November was quite a busy month. I released a new iPhone app and started working on 2 new books. I’m going to keep this report short but I’ll give you a little detail of my projects to keep this a little more interesting.
Welcome to my online income report for October 2014. This is the latest I have posted a report but it is finally here. Not a whole lot has been happening but I have been staying very busy when it comes to my online projects. The final parts of a new iPhone app are almost done. I can’t believe it’s been a year since I launched my first iOS app. It has been stressful and frustrating but more importantly, it has been a learning experience. I am glad that app development is a part of my skill set now and I plan on launching more apps in the future.
I am also working on new Kindle books. I have been away from publishing for about 1.5 years but it is time to get back into it. Of the books I published about 2 years ago, they continue to generate a decent amount of income for me without any additional work or maintenance. I have also wasted a lot of money on writers too! I know I will not make back the $1000 I spent on the last 3 books I had written because they are generating zero sales.
I just had a 4th book written by a woman from India that I don’t even think I will publish! The covers for Kindle/Createspace, description and keywords have already been created but they may never be uploaded. That’s because I just learned that publishing books on random topics is not a good way to approach self-publishing. I actually already knew that but I kept on chasing after random topics without building a following of loyal buyers.
So I will be approaching the next batch of books differently by sticking with one main topic and really focusing on specific details within that topic. I will also have a launch plan for each of these new books. I’m excited for my next books because I will be using an email list I’ve been building plus social media assets. Currently I have 450 email subscribers and 900 Twitter followers where I will be promoting the book launches.
Hi, my name is Harlan and I don't accept any more freelance video production gigs but I still manage to generate a growing side business even without freelancing! You can do it too by utilizing your creative skills to build online assets that generate continual income long after they're finished. I'm not an expert at this but I am building a business where I choose to work only on projects that interest me.
